About the Role

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will act as a key bridge between client stakeholders and HammerSense Project Managers by gathering requirements, documenting processes and confirming the needs of the clients.  Embedded into the business, you will be able to work closely with stakeholders to document and experience their day-to-day challenges, and also have the ability to identify and recommend quick wins and stop gap measures.  Your work is integral as your processes enable city teams to leverage insights that your data provides.  You'll often need to be resourceful in your Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) tasks as you will need to swivel-chair between systems and manual pen & paper forms.  This is a dynamic role where each day is different and you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of driven business and technology professionals, while making a positive impact with our amazing clients.

Requirements

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Engage stakeholders to capture user stories, use cases, and confirm business needs.


  • Document business requirements which will be managed in Jira.


  • Work with solution partners (external vendors) to communicate and liaise action items.


  • Develop business process maps and workflows based on standard BPM notation and client notation.


  • Perform gap analysis.


  • Maintain various project documentations and logs.


  • Draft weekly status and progress reports.



Who Would Be Ideal For This Role

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Business, Computer Science, Arts or any equivalent education.


  • Minimum 2-3 years of corporate BA experience.


  • Experience in change management, business process mapping, requirements gathering and use case development.


  • Ability to build rapport, foster positive relationships, collaborate with people, and influence change.


  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, written and documentation skills.


  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.



Nice to Have (Assets)

  • Special considerations for applicants with field experience or training in:


    • Continuous Improvement Methods such as: Kaizen, Agile Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, Kanban.


    • Certifications in PMP, Prosci.



Contract Details & Conditions

  • Contracts available for 6 months and 12 months with renewal options based on performance and as required by client.


  • Hybrid work model: You must be locally based in metro Vancouver-area, some in-office time may be required and have the tools and ability to online remote work.


  • Hourly-rate: $55-$75/hour, aligned to project scope and public sector project funding. Contractor role; no benefits or allowances (e.g. travel, meals) unless client approved.
